Any suggestions? I want to encourage imaginative play. Is he too young for tea sets and food toys ?

Any books or websites you can recommend for ideas?

My 15mo DD has a tea set and she loves it!She's also got a little ELC kitchen which she loves. I think it's more about copying what mummy and daddy do at this age. So she has her ELC kitchen in the kitchen and keeps her self occupied whilst I cook. Her favourite by far is the ELC little figures, she spends ages perching them in various places around the house. I'd take your DS into a toy shop (Mothercare for example) and just see what he gravitates to.

its so hard at this age, my 17 month old shows little interest in many of her toys. Its all about emptying her toy box, pulling down books and general running around. I did though buy her one of these for xmas:

Toy lawn mower and wheelbarrow
Pull along puppy which wagged its tail as it went along.
Plastic toaster that pushed down and popped up
Toy hoover
Toy tractor and trailer
Keyboard
Little Tikes plastic rocking horse
Echo microphone
Hand puppets

My DS is 17 months and similarly loves emptying his toy box, any cupboards, trying to rock climb up anything, emptying mummies purse at any given opportunity lol.
But for toys
He loves his rocking horse
His auntie bought him a blow up sit on bouncing dinosaur thingy from Mothercare he loves that
Beatbo
Lock/latch board

yep dd has her big sisters toys including kitchen. she's 16mo and puts the cup under the tap and makes a water noise, brings me the cup etc.

toys wise she genuinely loves a massive box with a flap for a door.

pushing a pushchair and her dollies, megablocks.

Kitchens tea sets etc are good for that age I think, also trolley/pram to put things in and push around, my 14mth old is getting into building blocks and duplo too and loves musical instruments - we have a box with tambourine, xylophone, maracas, castanets, little drums etc.

My DD wasn't walking at that age so wasn't tearing around investigating stuff.

She liked her hammer bench
Fisherprice sorting eggs in egg box
Brio blocks
