Help me stock my shop!!

I have recently opened a shop and website called BabyArk selling organic and environmentally friendly baby products - including cloth nappies.

I currently stock Motherease One Size, Air Flow and Rikki Wraps and Tots Bots Bamboozles and Fluffles.

There seems to be demand for a more shaped , less bulky all in one such as the Imse Vimse, or I'm thinking maybe the Sckoon organic nappies

The Bambino Mios I bought for my 8 year old are now serving my eight month old, so I'm not all that up on modern nappies.

What would you recommend??

Thank you for your help!

How about stoking prefolds? I have loads of different types of nappy but these I use daily. Nappy nation make a bamboo prefold that I would probably go for if I were mad enough to have another baby .

Wacky wraps are lovely too (google) but not sure if they are sole suppliers.

Flamesparrow, makes and sells tie-dye bamboo all in ones which are great. Her website is Bumfluff nappies - she might like to supply a shop?

BTW be careful about mentioning your site on MN without payong under small ads or you'll be in trouble!

Hi laundrylover

I had thought about prefolds and approached Bambino Mio, but they didn't want to play ball. I will investigate Nappy Nation.

I paid my dues for a small ad, so I'm hopefully safe!

Thanks for your ideas, your help is much appreciated.

I just got a few new nappies last week, and was recommended Swaddlebees by my local nappy advisor, so got one to try: it's fanstastic, so luxurious and slim-fitting. It's an one-size organic velour nappy (does require a wrap..anecdotally, the Swaddlebees which don't seem to have a tendency to leak) and I'll definitely be looking for more! It fits both my toddler and my 4.5month old really well
I also got my (sorry, their ) first Bumgeniius last week and it's brilliant: I thought it a bit ugly at first, but performance-wise it rocks worth every penny, I WANT MORE

Can I put n a vote for Nature Babies microfibre diddy diapers, these are our daytime staple along with popolini's. Made in UK so less airmiles!

nappyzone · 28/06/2007 20:00

Sazisi - yey for bumgenius - i know someone who is doing a tasty deal on preorders for bg's

Thank you for all your advice - Keep em coming!

Come in and say hello Witchandchips - I'm trying to promote a no purchase pressure vibe in the shop, because I hate that when I'm browsing.

A lack of liners in Whitstable is where the idea for BabyArk began so I have a good stock of flushable liners and am waiting on a consignment of fleece ones

Ooh you a real bricks n mortar shop??

nappyzone · 28/06/2007 21:31

were actually is your shop? - im in stockton on tees and it is my dream to go in a real nappy shop! are you anywhere near? my ultimate dream is to own a proper brick built shop (and have hundreds of customers of course!!).

thefizzyone · 28/06/2007 21:38

I do have a proper shop - which is good and bad; I can't make sales in my pyjamas, but I don't have to sleep next to a teetering tower of Cut4Cloth clothes!

Or stop a toddler swiping stock, running away and giggling

thefizzyone · 28/06/2007 21:41

I'm in Whitstable in Kent.

I am lucky because there really was a gaping hole in the market for my kind of shop - I had thought about opening one 3 years ago when my second child was born, so when I had another baby and got back into the swing of washable nappies again last year, I thought I'd go for it!

So many Mums have come into the shop and said - 'I'm so glad you're here' and that feels good - some reassurance that this was a sound business decision, not just something I did on a whim.

That's true Flame!

With hindsight I think the wooden toys were a BAD idea!
