1 year old self soothing advice

As a baby my 1yr old aways slept really well, i would see the signs of tiredness and put her down drowsy and off she would go to sleep on her own. However, when she was around 8mths we went on holiday and with the change in temp, travel cot etc she was unsettled myself and my husband (unwisely) started letting her go to sleep on us first before putting her down. Since coming home (she is now 15mths) she will nap in the day but only with her bottle and on us, then be put in her cot for the rest of her nap. Same for bedtime- bottle and goes off to sleep with us. I am just getting aware that she will probably be wanting to drop her bottle soon and i want her to start getting her self off to sleep. Does anyone have some advice on the best way to do this? the most common method is put her down drowsy, leave her to cry 10mins then return, soothe, and repeat etc. I just find it difficult hearing her cry :/
Any advice with someone with experience in this would really help. Im currently 6mths preg so i'm eager to get this sorted before the arrival of number 2! Many thanks x

Watching with interest!!

I currently have a 12 month old that we put to bed asleep after a feed. Ideally we'd like her to be able to self soothe before next baby arrives in 10 weeks, but unsure where to start!

After a bit more reading up, we are going to give the Jo Frost method a go tonight.... wish us luck!!! www.jofrost.com/controlled-timed-crying-technique-ctct/

we did this technique last night, bottle and she was drifting off and we put her down at 7pm, and followed the advice of leaving for 2mins, then 4min,then 8min etc. after an hour in total she had gone to sleep and didn't wake at all until 7am! (she sometimes wakes in the night and needs a cuddle before going back off) going to try the same routine this afternoon for her nap, feeling nervous about this one!

That's brilliant OP!!!!

We're going to start on Friday, I think I'll take the easy option whilst I'm at work this week! Lol!
