Clean pajamas?

Another daft question...

I give DS (21 mo) breakfast in his pajamas each day, so at least he doesn't start the day in grubby clothes. But then he gets his pajamas grubby, so needs clean ones each night. Am I missing something, or at what age do kids start wearing pajamas for more than 1 to 2 nights? (or is that slovenly and filthy and does everyone change theirs every night)?

I just seem to end up with interminable laundry (which is one thing my MIL has never done for me) and needing lots of sets of pajamas.

I do change my kids' PJs if they get too messed up with food etc., but if it's just a little bit I'll let it go. I would say I probably change them every 3 or 4 days on average, same as my self. (They are 29 mos and almost 5 years.)

My sister in law changes all their pajamas every day (and there are 5 of them in their family), as well as towels after every shower. Can't be bothered myself!

I'm with Kate. DS is 3.7 and we've been doing that for a while. Definitely do the breakfast in pjs thing and change them if lots of weetabix on them but if its just a little bit can't be bothered. Buy DS two of the two packs of pjs from Asda for a fiver each season so each summer he has four sets of short pjs and each winter 4 sets of long pjs and this is always more than enough. Two would be pushing it a bit.

My dd1 is 7 and she wears clean pyjamas every night. She has loads of pyjamas anyway as people always buy her them for christmas. She's got into the habit of putting her pyjamas in the washing basket in the morning when she gets dressed. Plus she eats breakfast in her pyjamas and even at the age of 7 she can sometimes be a very messy eater, sometimes I despair. She's also a hot person and often sweats a lot while she's sleeping which is another reason for her to put on clean ones.

dd2 is nearly 3 and her jimjams normally last about 3 nights now, does a bib not prevent the mess?

jodee · 02/09/2004 21:47

Ds's last about 3 nights, and I definitely change them when they pong around the crotch area!

moomina · 02/09/2004 21:50

I change ds's every couple of days or so, but they're usually quite dirty by then In fact, his nickname for the last couple of weeks has been 'Shreddie Legs' - god knows how he manages to get his cereal all down his pyjama legs every morning...

So, yes, am probably slovenly too...

Ds is 21mths and still makes a mess at breakfast so his are changed every day.
Dd's are 6 and 4 and theirs are changed about everey 3 days, unless they spill something down them.

SoftFroggie · 02/09/2004 21:55

Thanks - if they're not too dirty (odd speck of food) I reuse them.

Sporty: a bib generally prevents the mess getting under the bib, but that still leaves the arms and legs to get gunged. I use two bibs (a fabric one under a plastic trough-type one) and I pull his sleeves up to the elbow and he still manages to gunge his clothes.

It doesn't help that I often have a fairly full laundry basket. Off to hang some up to dry now!
