Ok so i set my little one on the bed while I was getting myself ready this evening and next thing I know he had rolled off and got the floor. He let out a terrible cry out of shock I think but had stopped after about a minute with lots of cuddles. He was straight away back to normal laughing and chatting and both pupils were responsive to light, no bumps and both arms and legs seem to be moving great.. I’m just such a worrier and feel absoloutely horrible for letting this happen. He’s sleeping now and I’ve been checking him. Do you think he will be ok? Feel like such a bad mum Sad

In pretty sure he will be fine. Most parents I know have done something similar. Including me.

Put him on the floor next time. Grin

You’re probably about to get the Great Mumsnet Thread of Times I Dropped/ Bumped/ Otherwise Injured My Baby And They Were Fine.

Assuming your bed isn’t 6 feet off the ground, he’s probably fine. Well done for making it to 7 months before this happened. Keep an eye on him, if you’re worried no medical staff will mind seeing him.

Do you want mine? I tipped my eldest onto her face and split her lip. Blood everywhere.

Congratulations, you've hit a parenting milestone : ) Every baby does this at some point. Don't panic!

That feeling you got as it happened, the cold blooded panic will return momentarily when you remember it years from now as well....

My eldest did this at a similar age. I realised my mistake and always put my younger daughter on the floor! Also, my mother apparently laid me on the sofa when I was about six months old and I rolled off. I cried and then she cried and phoned the GP who told her I would be fine..... but she was so mortified that she didn’t tell my Dad for 30 years until it happened to me with my daughter and she finally admitted that she had done the same thing! 😆

Your little one will be fine, don’t sweat it. It’s a right of passage.

My husband's did it once and I've done it once. The sick feeling in your stomach!

Agree with PP our GP was lovely the first time we needed some reassurance. Second time we just kept an eye on her, she was fine.

Agreed he’ll be fine. It’s a right of passage I think. Both mine fell off the bed at 7/8 months.

Mine rolled off the sofa onto a hard wood floor Blush he was fine but I wasn't!

Crying is good, as is responding normally afterwards. Honestly don't worry Smile

I put mine on middle of bed about six months whilst I was getting dressed and had my eye on him. He did a super fast double roll and off he went- couldn't quite catch him in time. Luckily our bedroom carpet is nice and thick wit a good underlay (not like our sitting room one which desperately needs replacing) He cried, I cuddled him.

Love these threads as we have all done it and there's no judgement. Crying is a good sign and lesson learnt- job done.

This happened to my son at that age too. He got a big purple bump on his head. I took him to the doctor and he said he's fine their bones are quite strong by then. He still checked him completely though to be sure. He said if he would've started to throw up and not seemed himself then he would've worried but he was fine!
