Since their teeth came through at 6 months! I didn’t realise you couldn’t!

What effects is this supposed to have?

You need to look at the recommendations for where you are, not random things on the internet. Ask your dentist or health visitor.

Finnish recommendation. No general fluoridation of the water so like the UK in that respect so inclined to think the recommendation would work for the UK too. Once a day is until 3, then twice a day with toothpaste.

Maybe we have worse teeth here

Just follow nhs advice. Ask your health visitor if you're not sure.

We are recommended adult strength toothpaste from the first tooth - we don’t have fluoride in our drinking water and consequently some of the worst childhood decay in the country.

I use 1450 ppm and have done since 6months. The advice is at least 1000ppm but only a dot.

We had a dentist come and do a chat in our playgroup that shown some of the tooth decay they have seen in toddler, it was absolutely shocking. People thinking they don't have to be too bothered as only baby teeth, giving fizzy drinks, sweet snacks and milk on teeth through the night as main causes.

They advised to use a 1450ppm one and give us a tube of recommended toothpaste ( which you can't buy in shops, have to order on line I think )

Thanks for all the advice! Water doesn’t have fluoride added here so will stick to nhs guidelines. I don’t think that’s classed as too random but I do get where you are coming from Bertie.

I know there are health professionals to ask, just always good to see what others do! Plus getting hold of my HV can be tricky..
