Food throwing - 11 month old

Wondering if anyone has any advice as this is driving me mad!

We've baby led weaned with pre-loaded spoons etc. My 11 month old has always been a food thrower but now it's got to the point where after every mouthful he'll chuck what's in his hands. He'll take another bite if returned to him and obviously still wants the food, but will launch it between every single bite.

I've tried limiting what I put on his tray, ignoring it, a firm no, pointing to the tray and asking him to put it there. I'm fed up of leaning down to pick up every item of food across an entire meal several times a day! Do I just have to wait this out?

I did with my dd, she would spit spoon fed food back at me ( couldn't help but laugh ) its all part of the fun xx

Honestly, I’d just ignore the throwing completely. I know it’s easier said than done but he’s obviously realised it’s fun to get Mum in a tizz.

If the food goes on the floor, just ignore and leave it there until it’s time to clear up. He can always have a bigger snack later.

Can you just give him enough for one mouthful at a time, so he has nothing to throw?

Are you giving finger food as well?

Thanks everyone!

Yes, sorry not sure why I mentioned pre loaded spoons specifically. The throwing is actually worse with food served onto his tray, he's not too bad with the spoons.

I have tried ignoring it but if I left the food on the floor it honestly doesn't feel as though he'd eat anything... chucking it is often the first thing he does. And if he doesn't eat well then we end up with him up in the night hungry.

My DS is also 11 months and a big food thrower. I think because we have a dog she goes around and hoovers it all up and he sees this as a bit of a game.

We try to give him one thing at a time now and that seems to help, also while he has his tea in the evening I put a tv program on for him on netflix (he doesn't watch it any other time) and this gives his something to focus on / be entertained by and I've noticed he doesn't throw half as much.
