Baby carrier for short mum and tall dad

We’re looking for a baby carrier to replace our ergobaby (fairly old version, bought second hand on ebay and does not allow forward facing) as we both find it uncomfortable, me because the shoulder straps feel too wide across my body and him for the same reason (strangely!). For context I am 5’3 and he is 6’2

Is there a baby carrier (preferably not a sling but one with some structure) that would suit us both? Eg ergobaby360 , baby bjorn one air?

5’1 and 6’3 here and we both get on well using the Baby Bjorn One Air. Little one always seems very comfortable too.

Thank you! Do you find it easy to adjust between you? And does the weight of the baby feel well distributed across your back? The one i have now makes my shoulders ache like billy-oh sometimes!!

A meitai is more adjustable because it has straps but no buckles (you tie the straps where it suits you, instead). Do you have a local sling library? I’d suggest trying one out - I have narrow shoulders and a meitai tied umwoyh a cross under the baby’s bum was by far the best for not having straps feeling too wide for my shoulders.

5ft 4 and 6ft 4 and the baby bjorn one carrier works for us. He gets a bit annoyed at having to adjust it if I've been using it but it takes seconds.

We have a connecta carrier, it is like a mei tai but it has buckles, I am 5"3 and DH is 6"4 and both of us find it comfy.

Thing is though, decent slings can be expensive and what works for one person may not work for another, have you got a sling library near you so you can try some out? If not you could try an online library, I've only ever used it's a sling thing but there's probably others.

Manduca carrier works for us. Super-easy to adjust, we’ve used it since DS was 6mo (currently nearly 2) and it goes up to age 4.

The Ergo felt far too wide on my shoulders. I also liked the feel of the Je Porte Mon Bebe carrier, but it didn’t fit DS as well. Go to a sling library and try a couple for a week or two.

Front-facing is only useful for a really short period so I wouldn’t have that as dealbreaker - once DC get heavier/taller you’ll want them on your back anyway. DH still carries DS on his chest, but I haven’t been comfortable with him on my front since he was about 9mo. His head is level with mine, and I have to lean so far back to counterbalance his weight that I’m practically doing a back bend. Back carries are so much more comfortable, I barely know he’s on there (weight-wise - he makes his presence felt in plenty of other ways Grin).

5”3 and 6”1 and used the Connecta which I loved, no issues for either of us.

I loved my Maducca, used it from newborns up to a small 5 year old when he hurt his foot hiking.
