Growing up

Hi. I'm a single dad to an 11yo boy, have been for 8 years. It's been a bit of a struggle to put it mildly.
Today I'm having a clear out and found all his old teddy bears. I asked if he wanted to keep any of them and he casually said dump the lot. Now I've got a lump in my throat as they go into the car ready for the charity shop and cant stop thinking about the hours we played with them. I suppose I just can't accept that he's growing up, it's gone so fast. Has anyone else felt like this?

Can you just keep one or two? He might change his mind when he's older and wish he'd kept them.

I've still got a few of my cuddley toys stored at my mums , I think I'll hunt my favourite out for my lo! So yeah, I agree with pp, keep one or two for the memories Smile

I already get this feeling and my LO is just 6 months old. I look at his new born pics and it makes me well. I dread the day he starts school. I'll be a mess.

Thats a good idea, I'll keep a couple hidden away, he may get nostalgic when he's older. Now he's at secondary school everything is about being cool and popular. He turned into a different person the day he started new school. He's only 11 and it's like having a grumpy teenager in the house!
