Hello i have a 14 month old boy, on the 19th he had a Febrile seizure, following a course of amoxiciilin liquid. Hospital check all ok, with varying temperatures, but he has been off his food, upset belly and cough. On 24/25/26 we have been struggling with temperatures varying 37-39.2 using calpol and ibuprofen. Having now seen an out of hours doctor amocicillin been perscribe and ibuprofen.
Im not looking for medical advise just other parents experiances and what they do having met such situations, and what they give to their child and how to deal with off food and varying temperatures?

If he’s ill, I’d let him eat and drink whatever he fancies. As for the temperature, turn the heating down, if you’ve got it on and if the temperature is still going up, maybe take him out for a walk?

Don't stress about food. Plenty of water I'm not sure I'd worry about milk given the age. I'd put mine in bed with me when they were poorly with just a vest and nappy and pull the sheet up and down accordingly.
I'd sometimes spend the day in bed watching tv if they were really out of sorts.

I don’t stress about food, more fluids. If needs be you can syringe feed liquids if that’s easier for him.

If temp is a worry, lukewarm water on his hair/lukewarm flannel on his head if he’s got no hair helps to cool. Cold is too much of a shock to the system.

You've done the thing seeing the ooh doctor. Keep on with the medication, plenty of rest and fluids. I would snuggle down on the sofa and put the TV on, let him sleep as much as he wants. Sounds rotten for him. I remember my DD had an awful virus at that age, but they perk up so quickly when it's over. X
