Help 13 month old walk

My 13 month old still isn't walking but is cruising the furniture and is a very good crawler. I would just know how to encourage walking on her own.

I try to hold her hands but she pulls her legs in the air to sit down 😂 I know I shouldn't worry but she is getting heavier and heavier and carrying her about in certain places isn't ideal where she can't get in the pram.

Any advice on how to encourage walking?

Hi Op,
My little girl is nearly 16 months and started walking at 15 months. She had taken a few steps around the 14 month mark, but nothing again and then suddenly something just clicked, she started walking one day and each day getting better.
She did lots of independent standing at home beforehand and at the nursery before actually walking. Looking back the whole process takes quite a few months, but 13 months is nothing really your little one will get there in their own time, though appreciate if your LO is quite heavy it's hard to transport them. Even when they are walking you often have to carry them in and out of places, so the carrying doesn't immediately stop 😬😅

If cruising confidently give 2 valued objects and wave a 3rd. My DD started walking because of biscuits - she had one per hand and wanted the 3rd without letting go to cruise.

Maybe try reins for support (old fashioned rather than bag style although if she's worked out that lifting legs works it will be used when she doesn't want to go where you want her to regardless of skill...

Neither of my 2 boys walked until 18 months. I did everything to encourage my eldest and stressed out about it, for nothing. He was a huge toddler as well (still is huge!). They really will do it when they are ready.

With my youngest, I chilled out more. Honestly, I miss the days when I could just plonk him in the buggy!

I refused to walk until I was 18months but my parents said that toys that i could stand and push really helped. I had a wooden trolley with stackable bricks that I loved but I'm sure they have much fancier things now.

Mine hated putting his hands on grass so we took him to the middle of the lawn, stood him up and moved away. He couldn't crawl because he hated the feel of the lawn. He walked that day.

Dd1 didn't walk until she was 18mtjs. I didn't encourage her much as had an active 3 yo at the time! Lol. She was cruising and one day just walked across my dad's front room. He didn't bat an eyelid as thought she could already walk 😂

My 12 month DD has only just started to learn to crawl. She'll stand up if I hold her or lean her against furniture, but won't move. Lol

DD1 didn't walk until 17 months and then just stood up and started walking about (turning corners as well as straight line) completely competently with no falls

Please leave her be. She'll walk when she's ready.

Sorry for the late reply! We all caught a bug over Christmas so not done much of anything! Thanks everyone for your kind words I have been using crisp today (like a dog with treats 😂) which is encouraging her to walk holding my hands so I'm sure I'm worrying over nothing as per usual and she will walk on her own in a month or two. Thanks again xxx
