If someone describes your child as this does it offend you?

Ignore, ignore, ignore.

I really couldn't care what other people think of my children :) Please don't let this person upset you unnecessarily.

Thanks :)

I guess my query is- is it a simple descriptive term or is it a bit of a negative word? People say it to me so freely and openly (don't think they are saying anything wrong) that I'm wondering if I am being 'precious' that I don't like it. (I have form for being very sensitive) Grin

I think it's just used as a describing word of a behaviour. However, in this context I can see why it could be taken as a bit of an insult even if it isn't meant to be.

What I didn't get before I became a parent is that a certain amount of clinginess and separation anxiety is good as they should know who their primary caregivers are. I would be more worried if I had a child who went to anyone, any time, and didn't care ever if mummy and daddy were around.

I suppose it depends on the context/tone of the conversation, and whether it's actually true or not. My 1 year old is very clingy at the moment, but it's a normal phase he is going through. If someone described him as that in a sympathetic way I wouldn't be offended.
