Car seat recommendations

I did have my heart set on the Joie everystages fx but then read its only Isofix rear facing. Love the idea of spending a bit more but getting a car seat to last til hes out of one. Max max budget of 280.....any suggestions? Or people with the Joie and love it?

Joie 360 - goes from 0- stage 3. Excellent if you have a heavy baby, c section or back issues, as you can load them facing you and then swivel them to rear face, and then front face when older.

I have looked at that one but I quite like the idea we get one forever. Hes already 6 months old but i guess could end up with a c sec next time if we're lucky enough to have another so could be handy then

I don't understand - why would rearfacing not last a long time? They should ideally rear face until the age of 4.

Sorry i mean the joie 360 only lasts til they're 4, everystage til they grow out of car seats entirely

I think bluefolder means why is it an issue that the everystages is only isofix rear facing?

I joined the Facebook group Car seat Advice Uk and it was fantastic - trained moderators and comprehensive lists!

What height and weight centile is your DS following? If he's heavier or taller than 50th centile, you'd be much better looking at a 25kg rear facing seat. In this case He would likely outgrow an 18kg car seat before 4 but would be too young to only be restrained by the car seat belt in a high back booster.

Good ones to consider for your budget are the Britax Two Way Elite and the Axkid Move.

Having a seat that lasts to 12 can be a false economy if your child is likely to outgrow the harness. You can get a good high back booster for £50 once they're 4yrs plus so it's much better to buy the best car seat for your DS once he's outgrown his infant carrier rather than trying to future proof too much. You need the car seat that fits your DS and your car the best.

Agree the 'car seat advice uk' is an excellent source of advice.

I will have a look on Facebook, thank you!!

He floats between 25th and 50th percentile so only dinky! The everystages is isofix only in forward facing so from (hopefully) 4! I suppose isofix isnt vital its just we are used to the ease of it now

Isofix isn't any safer than belt fitting if the seat is fitted correctly.

If he's not 50th centile then you can look at most 18kg rear facing seats so the best advice is to chose a seat that fits your car - that means ideally trying them in your car. Going to an independent car seat retailer (ie. not Mothercare, Halfords, John Lewis etc) is the best way to do this. Otherwise, when you join the Facebook group, search for your car type to see what other people have found to be a good fit.

Northernbeachbum · 21/12/2018 11:08

Oh i know its no safer, just a lot easier Grin

I dont believe we have any independent car seat places nearby so I'll have to make the most of the Facebook group. Thank you all!!
