Travel cot help... dd too big!

DD is 14 months old and too big for her travel cot. She sleeps in a cotbed normally and is a very fidgety sleeper. Does anyone have any recommendations of what I can try now? I need something by new years day when we're going to stay with my parents.

I have a baby Bjorne one. My son is a year, weighs 23lbs and is on the 85th for length. He fits it comfortably. Not cheap, but packs very neatly and is very sturdy.

RuskBaby · 17/12/2018 18:58

We initially brought the red kite which is almost square and yes dd is too tall for it (2) but there are longer much more rectangle ones she would fit in with space to spare so check the dimensions.

GMtoBe · 17/12/2018 20:48

Sorry I should have been more specific.

She can't sleep in it without touching the ends unless she's diagonal (she sleeps with her arms above her head) and then as soon as she rolls over she hits the side and wakes herself up.

I didn't know you could get them in different dimensions I assumed they were all the same.

Thanks for the helpful responses.

We have a Hauck one and it's quite long rather than square which suits my DD as she's tall. I can never link things on here but I'm sure it's called Hauck sleep & play or something like that.

Orlande · 17/12/2018 21:49

Sounds like you have a smaller than standard one? I have one argos one and one kiddicare one, both standard size, and a 2.5 year old can sleep in them fine.

GMtoBe · 18/12/2018 07:49

Maybe we do have a smaller one then! It's just an argos one but dd is 98th centile for weight and height. I'll check out some of the brands recommended by PPs.

Intex kids inflatable mattress looks pretty good. It's on amazon.

s soon as they were old enough to stand and tip the travel cot we switched to inflatable ready beds with attached sleeping bags.

They have moulded sides so they don’t roll out.

They aren’t expensive. You can get them in Amazon.

GMtoBe · 18/12/2018 17:35

I love the look of the ready beds! I think I'll go with something like that.

At that age, we made the room safe and put ours on a mattress on the floor in the same room with us. It was possible to find a spare mattress most places or if we were driving we just brought her cot mattress.
