Hi,
My DD is 7 months 11 days (I've lost track of weeks). We started BLW about a week before she was 6 months, she was showing all signs of readiness and this seems to be going well. Still breastfeeding on demand too. Over the last week or two she has started being sick fairly regularly after eating (either breast or solids). This does coincide with her becoming more active - she's not crawling yet but will roll to her tummy so is spending more time on her tummy and somehow manages to move around the room quite independently.

The sick doesn't seem to bother her and isn't in huge amounts. She is generally happy in herself and still happy to feed. Regular wet nappies and no other signs of illness

Could the increased activity be what is making her sick? Or could I be over feeding her; although I didn't think this was possible with bf and blw?
I know no one can diagnose but wondered if anyone had any experience of this? I've no other children so no comparison

Thank you

My DS was a bit pukey at this age. We used to call him a little jug as every time he moved milk would flow out :)

In his case I think he was ready for the food / breastmilk balance to change. As he started eating more solids and less milk the puking stopped. I think it was just taking more milk to satisfy him than he could fit in his tummy.

Laying on his tummy / crawling and leaning forward when sitting up all triggered it. He grew out of it completely before he was walking, and wasn't a sicky baby before that. He was (and is) a pretty food-orientated child and doesn't seem to have an off switch with eating, completely opposite to my DD, who knows when she's full and stops!

Thank you It sounds very similar to your experiences with your DS; tummy time, stretching and rolling all seem to be a trigger.

I'd actually thought about taking a step back with food but perhaps that's not the answer. She definitely is enjoying her food and is eating well. Hopefully we just need the balance to tip, as you experienced.

I read that young babies don't have a very well developed valve in the oesophagus so will occasionally be sick very easily. Our DS was like this when younger, especially at night on a full belly. He's slowly grown out of it now, guess it's just one of those things
