HI... anyone got any ideas (I'm sure loads of you have) for getting my 3 1/2 year old to stay dry at night time? Her sister is 2 1/2 and just started potty training and is already nearly dry every night.

I have been wondering the same thing as my DS is 4 in August - he is always very wet every night - does this mean I shouldn't even try lifting him and losing the nappy until the nappy is dry? Or should I give lifting a go? My friend said that her nephew was 8 before they could do anything - they give the child a sheet or something that wakes them up everytime they wet the bed - apparently it stops them after a week or so!

bozzy - ds is the same - has been dry in the day for about a year now, but nightime nappy is still sodden every morning - not likely to change until he cuts down on his before bed milk which he is VERY fond of . I'm owrking on the policy that I'm not even thinking about night-time training until he is dry in ams most of the time

funnypeculiar, thank you - makes me feel a lot better! I too need to cut down on the milk at night time...it is tempting though a those night time nappies cost a fortune!!

My 6 year old has only recently stopped wearing pyjama pants at night and is dry 50% of the time at the moment. I've read that limiting drinks prior to bedtime is counterproductive because the bladder adjusts to reduced volume. Interestingly there are at least 4 kids in his class who are not dry at night - so this is fairly normal (there may also be others I don't know about). My 3 1/2 yr old has only just come out of nappies in the day and is wet every night so maybe there is a genetic factor involved. Either way I've become increasingly relaxed about it all. They'll do it when they're ready

I still don't get it, my DD 2.6 years old who only started training about 3-4 weeks ago is already dry at night , but still DD1 who is 3.9 is wet every morning!!! Aggghhh and she's in the words of Catherine Tate "not bothered" ... I thought when her little sister started it might kick start her but nope nada nothing! I'm a little frustrated!
