Nap timings 10 months-ish

Just wondering what nap routines your 10-ish month babies are on?

Mine has been on 2 naps since around 6 months, and usually naps about at around 9am (3hrs after waking), and I get him up after 30 mins. He then goes down again at about 1.30 for about 1.5hrs. In bed between 6.30-7pm.

The last week or so though he's been fighting both naps and taking longer and longer to go off to sleep. Think we might need to look at tweaking times but not sure where to do it!

My daughter will be 10 months old in 5 days.. she used to nap like you've mentioned but now only has one nap and it's much later in the day than it used to be. She usually naps at about 1.30/2 for an 1/1.5 hours.

PaulMorel · 05/12/2018 09:45

When your baby is 1 year old already there napping time will change again it is not constant.

myotherbagisgucci · 05/12/2018 13:43

My DD is 11 months, and she has two 40 minutes naps. One around 9am/9.30am and the next around 1.30pm/2pm. She's usually exhausted by the evening and in bed for 7pm.

My 10m old wakes between 6:30-7 and has a nap 3 hours after waking - only 1 hour/ 1hr 15 max. I try to make her then hold out until 2:30 when DD1 gets back from pre school, again 1 hour and bed at 6:30/7. Shouldn’t complain when she’s doing 12 hours at night but my DD1 used to nap for 2 hours at a time until 18m.. don’t think DD2 has ever napped for 2 hours ha x

@PaulMorel yep, got that, just wondering what sort of routine other babies around this age are on.

Thanks all... I can't work out if I should try and shorten his morning nap to try and make sure he gets a long afternoon sleep, or try pushing back and lengthening the morning nap. Wish I had a manual!

My 10 month old sleeps 10-11/11:30 then again 3:30-4:30, I usually have to wake her from this one, then bed at 7:30 and she sleeps right through for 11/12 hours
I’ve tried recently to move her to one nap but she was up all night for the 2/3 days we tried it so she’s back to 2 naps, she’s very happy as she is

mindutopia · 06/12/2018 14:30

Mine usually sleeps about 8:30-9:30 (on the school run, falls asleep in the car and finishes sleeping in his car seat in the house) and then again usually around 12 ish (how long depends on what we're doing, could be 30 minutes if it's in the car on the way somewhere, could be 2 hours like today). He sometimes but not always has another quick nap around 5 (maybe only 15-30 minutes) depending on how tired he is. Bedtime is at 8pm and we get up in the morning usually between 6-7am.

Narya · 06/12/2018 14:34

My almost 11 month old sleeps at 9.30/10 and gain at 2.30/3, each for up to an hour and a quarter. He does 8pm - 7.30am overnight, generally waking once or occasionally twice to feed.

DD 11mo is in bed 7p-5.30a (that bit isn't working so well for me), nap 8a-9.40ish, another nap 1p-2.30ish. She's usually wiped by 7p.

NerrSnerr · 06/12/2018 15:23

I just always let mine sleep when they wanted for how long they wanted. They both dropped their second nap at around 12 months.

rubyroot · 06/12/2018 23:25

My 11 months sleeps 9.30 til 9.30 and then nap at 12.30 9spends half hour going to sleep and then up at 2. Then back to bed at 5 (again takes 30 mins to go to sleep) and up at 6.30 and bed by 9,30. Feeling like its getting difficult to get two naps- I'm considering transitioning- when he has one nap about 3pm at weekends it means can fit lunch in better and naps for 2 1/2 hours and still sleeps for 12 hpurs at night.

twoundertwo54321 · 06/12/2018 23:30

At nursery they do lunch at 11:30 and down for naps at 12 so I'm trying to get my ten month old towards that schedule so could be worth you aiming for that and dropping the morning nap? Then ideally she has a two hour nap 12-2 and then she goes through to 6:30/7.

MummysGlassesAreNotAToy · 07/12/2018 05:48

@twoundertwo54321 mine is starting nursery next month and they also do naps 12-2 so have been wondering about that! I'm just not sure we'll get anywhere near to 12pm with no nap without it being a disaster!

DS is just coming up to 11 months, gets up around 4.30am then has an hour around 8-9am and another 40 min around 1-2pm, bed at 7pm

TheGhostOfYou · 07/12/2018 07:15

DD2 is almost 10 months and has 2-3 naps a day. They vary based on what time she wakes up in the morning and the day (weekends differ, she doesn't nap well when DD1 is off school)) butually it goes 9.30am-11ish, 1pm-2pm and sometimes 4pm-5pm. Bedtime is at 7. If she doesn't have the third nap bedtime is moved forward a little.

TheGhostOfYou · 07/12/2018 07:17

*but usually not butually Hmm

QueenofmyPrinces · 07/12/2018 10:35

With both my children, when 10 months of age, they would wake up at 6am-ish and have his first nap at 9.15 and he’s sleep for 1.5 hours. He would then have a second nap at 2pm for another 1.5 hours.

My first son carried on with this routine until he was 2 years old and then dropped to one nap after lunch which was from 1-3pm. He didn’t drop this nap until he was just under 3.5 years old.

My second son is now 16 months old and because of the school run with my eldest, he can no longer have the two morning and afternoon naps. He’s still up at 6am and I put him down for his nap at 10am after the school run and he will typically sleep for two hours. Some nights he’s asleep for 6.30pm but usually it’s 7pm.
