Should I still be worried

My DS is 14 months old and has had swollen glands for more than a few weeks maybe even months. Both sides of neck our swollen with one side slightly bigger than the other. As it's been like this for a while doctor sent for blood count and CRP all normal, doctor doesn't think it's likely to be anything serious just infections picked up from older DS but I'm wondering could it still be serious even if blood tests are ok? We are supposed to go back in two weeks and possibly a scan if not reduced. I'm just so worried it's something awful thanks to me googling too much!

Trust your gut op!
If you think you need a second opinion go and get one, there's no shame in ensuring your child is healthy and well!

Thanks Bettyswitch, we did the blood tests privately to speed things up and I think I was expecting a problem. I might go to the doctor next week instead of waiting a full two weeks, but don't want to get a scan unnecessarily. DS seems well in himself besides having a cold. I guess I'm just wondering if it was something wouldn't it show up in the bloods?

I'm sorry op I don't have any medical training so I have no idea of what would or wouldn't show up on a blood test.

However I do have a close family member who has a dc that was ill and she got palmed off by their gp on numerous occasions, she knew in her heart that there was something wrong with her child and refused to leave A&E untill a diagnosis was obtained.

I am in no way implying that there is something wrong with your little one and I do not want to add to your worries!
But if you feel the need to chase things up then by all means please do so, you know your child better than anyone and a mothers instinct is not to be ignored.
Sending you my best wishes op x

Thanks again Bettyswitch, your messages have really helped. I've gone back to the doctor and although he still thinks it's highly unlikely to be anything serious I'm going to get an appointment in the next two weeks at the local hospital, I'm absolutely terrified. I'm not sure what to expect at the appointment if further tests will be requested, does anyone have experience of a toddler going for a CT scan or biopsy? I'm not even sure these are the tests that they will want to do. Any advice or anyone's experience with stuff like this would be greatly appreciated as I'm starting to lose my mind!

I'm glad your gp has listened to your concerns and is is being very through,
I'm sure your dc is fine & it's great that you are getting your appointment so soon.
Hopefully someone with more knowledge will jump on this post and guide you through things!

Just to reassure you my dd had this for a year or so (and still has from time to time). I went to go several times and eventually got a referral to hospital. She had blood counts and scans and all clear. They think it's eczema which keeps appearing behind her ear. She's fine in herself.

I had this as a child, almost permanently lumpy glands in neck. At one point I was in hospital for a week being assessed ( I think for diabetes?) Absolutely nothing wrong with me.
