Transporting baby in the rain: raincover for sling/carrier and Baby Jogger deluxe carrycot

FTM-to-be here worrying about all kinds of eventualities... We've just put our pram together and now I'm wondering what's the best way to keep the baby dry when it's raining and we have to travel on foot. We live somewhere quite dry but when it rains (as it does quite often at this time of the year) it pours, and we'll need to do short walks to get baby weighed etc from week 1.

We have a Baby Jogger City Mini GT with deluxe carrycot, but no raincover included. Looking on Amazon etc there are various raincovers to buy but I'm not sure what's suitable for the carrycot. The official Baby Jogger one seems to have dreadful reviews and is really pricey. Also it worries me that with the carrycot totally zipped up and a raincover over I won't be able to see the baby at all.

We also have a Close caboo sling and an Ergo 360 carrier... I've seen that there are various rain covers available for slings - does anyone have any recommendations?

Please don't hesitate to tell me if I'm being ridiculous and ovethinking this... I'm overdue and going slightly mad!

Mum to 4DC, you are overthinking this a tad... the baby jogger has a fabulous hood, can you pull that forward over the carry cot and open the viewing panels?

Or put the baby in a sling and use an umbrella? As you’ll have your hands free with the baby in a sling.

Being overdue sucks big time and messes with your mind! Hang in there, good luck for the next couple of weeks!

Thank you, I think I really needed that reassurance!

For the sling I’d recommend a MAM/Manduca cover or a bundlebean. They tie over the top rather than attaching to the actual sling so can be used with any sling

Coat with zip in panel works well for me. The close cocoon is ok but in your coat is better

Thanks for the suggestions Pippilotta, a non-specific cover sounds like a sensible idea..

I've seen those randomsabreuse - at Bonrpix for example - and they look very sensible, but I thought I'd hold off splashing out until the baby is here and we see how we get on with a sling.

Another vote for a bundlebean. We used it for the carrier but also as a foot warmer on the gt when bigger and in the seat. It's totally waterproof and my dd will not tolerate a rain cover but is happy with the bundlebean.
