Is this hand foot and mouth? (Pic)

Waiting in call back from 111 but I'm not convinced it's hand foot and mouth as rash appeared mildly a week ago then disappeared (We assumed it was over droolibg/dummy), and he woke up with it suddenly like this today.

No other symptoms, hes absolutely fine.

If it is then it's going to be difficult to know when to send him bac k to nursery as the advice seems to be when he's feeling better, but he's not ill.

Grateful for any advice in this please. I've been putting sudocrem on it!

I had a similar thread recently. I don't know about your LO but DD also had no other symptoms and it turned out to be dribble rash where her dummy was sitting.

A few tiny ones on his right hand but not raised or anything.

When my dd had it the spots were red not like your pic.

It looks like how my little girls impetigo started. It eventuality got a little pus in places and she got cream from the doctor it was away within a few days.

It didn't go anywhere near as bad as the pics on google!

If he has spots on his hands too then I’d say HFM

Thankyounext · 02/12/2018 12:00

My dd started with red spots on her bottom which apparently is common.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 02/12/2018 12:15

I was going to say impetigo too. My friends son caught it from nursery

MichelleM30 · 02/12/2018 12:36

My girl had a little bits on her hands too and had a bad nappy rash with the impetigo. Doctor said she had probably scratched down below then touched her face. Hope you get to see the doctor today.

Thewalker75 · 02/12/2018 12:47

Hadn't thought of impetigo - it's not sore or itchy does that matter?

Spoke to a doc and they said it doesn't sound like classic HFM but couldn't rule it out. Couldn't rule out dummy rash either. He said there would be no point in taking him to the Dr as they won't test for it and hes well in himself. Just said that if he gets a fever and becomes unwell then visit gp.

So we really are none the wiser. I'm going to continue with the sudocrem in the hope it's just his dummy (hes been allowed it a lot more lately since his baby brother was born so I'm taking it off him outside of nap times).

If it's HFM our nursery policy is they won't exclude unless they are unwell so will see what they think tomorrow.

If it's impetigo then I guess the rash will get worse and more painful so will just have to keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the advice all.

So in case anyone stumbles across this thread with a similar query, we found out today it's hand foot and mouth AND impetigo. Yay.

That's a crap combination, I'm sorry OP. Hope your LO feels better soon.
