Hey! i have a 9 month old DS hes not been too great at weaning but getting alot better recently.

just wondering when you all started to drop the number of bottles your little ones had?

DS is MASSIVE! he is an off the scale/ 99.6centile baby so always taken alot more milk than other babys and was really surprised he didnt take to food so great. At around 4/5/6 months he was taking seven bottles a day at seven ounces.

now at 9 months he has 5 bottles a day at either seven or eight ounces usually finishes them. He has a breakfast (porridge or weetabix with a little fruit) lunch (usually a mini meal and fruit) and tea (doesnt always take this or very much of it usually a mini meal)

just wondering how other babies are taking to food and if/ when their babies started to drop bottles. ?

First time mum here doubting herself on everything Grin

My DD was having 110z of milk at a time at one point. It was a mind boggling amount. When she started to only take 2oz I started to phased them out.

She dropped her during the night bottles last and had he last one at 13 months. At 9 months she definitely still look a fair bit of milk.

I reduced the amount in each bottle to start with so 5 8oz bottles went to 5 6oz bottles in a day. Then I took one away completely, usually one closest to lunch or dinner and upped the 6oz in the rest of 7oz. It makes them a little hungrier during the day and especially before meal times so they have the desire to eat more. Soon enough you can reduce and take away more bottles. Dd is 13mo now and has 2 7oz bottles, one on waking and one before bed.

Hey thanks for getting back to me, its good to hear that others are similar at this stage :) thats a good idea about dropping the amount in the bottle gradually I think ill try that when he starts eating better

My DD didn't start eating better until I reduced the amount and dropped bottles. She needed the motivation of hunger to eat! Never let her get too hungry but it definitely helped with a tough start to weaning.

I just let my baby decide, he's dropped his milk by choice
