Going back after maternity leave - how many days and why?

Wondering how many days to work when I go back after maternity leave with DC1. What do you do any why? Do you WFH at all?

Context:
Live and work in London (one hour commute)
Professional job
Childcare will be nursery (or childminder / nanny if nursery doesn't work out)
DC1 will be about 1
We plan to have more babies (probably one more relatively soon - if we're lucky of course - although not immediately)

Opinions / ideas please! Thank you

I went back 5 days - career wouldn’t have survived part time and business needs would have meant requests for part time hours rejected.

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday - I found this to be the perfect combination. Didn't really miss out on anything - caught up on Wednesday's goings on Thursday and Fridays tended to be quiet anyway. This combo was recommended to me by other part timers as being the most productive and I reckon it is. Worth having in your back pocket as an argument in favour of 3 days if your initial Tues- Thurs request is rejected. Dc benefited too from max two days in a row in childcare - Wednesday's were slow days!

Thanks @Tealfrog good to know

@Sengah it's quite role specific but basically suggested some parts of my role are given to another team and that I take on less extra stuff and just focus on core work. Also suggested me being 3 days could be a way to increase overall headcount and actually have more resource overall in the team. I think the key is to show you've carefully thought about it from your employers' perspective. Obviously I don't know yet if I will get it though! Good luck

I wish this was possible in my role too! All the best - please update us with how it goes.
