Crying

Hi there.

Anybody else's baby just cries and cries and cries? My LO cries no matter what, tired, hungry, on the boob, off the boob, in the buggy, in the car!!,Been told its colic. But I actually just think she's a whiny baby, she does that whiny little half pretend cry for no reason whatsoever.. and don't talk to me about nappy change time! You'd think I was trying to kill her the way she cries. Just a constant battle! Please tell me it gets better???? The ONLY time there's no crying Is during bath time as she loves her bath. She's 10 weeks old.

She sounds like our little one but ours is bottle fed. Our lives got considerably better when we moved her onto comfort milk which is lower in lactose and thicker so they take in less air. Babies can struggle with lactose until they’re about 12 weeks then most grow out of it - ours hasn’t yet. We had the same things - very infrequent poo, lots of wind (we tried infacol and gripe water - we put gripe water in the very last few mouth fulls of her bottle - it worked a treat but we had to do it every feed). Might be worth considering the lactose thing if you haven’t already.

My eldest was like this. Pretty much cried constantly for 5 months. He also had silent reflux. Ranitadine helped. And a dummy. And keeping him upright as much as physically possible.

Can I give you a tip? You need to keep them upright longer than 15 minutes after a feed in my opinion. With my two (youngest had reflux as well but didn't complain as much!) it was AT least 30 mins after a feed they needed keeping upright for. Honestly, I would aim for an hour.

I tried not to lay DS flat in anything as soon as I worked out he had reflux. His cot was on an angle, I sat him in the bouncer when I needed to put him down, and he was in the car seat when out and about. He used to love laying on my chest to sleep. It all helped.

OP have you tried a sling library? You might be able to rent a sling that you and your baby get on with better? Or they might be able to advise as to how to make your one more comfy for you and baby? If you can get the sling to work it will probably help you and baby a lot!

OP, I feel your pain - I could have written your post. My ds is also 10 weeks old and is doing exactly the same, I’m so fucking fed up of being screamed at all the time. Luckily he will settle in the sling thank god, otherwise I’d have gone out of my mind.

Everyone says after 12 weeks it gets better, she's 12 weeks now so holding out hope!!! She's crying about 4% less than what she did, she cries before latching on I do everything I can to get her wind out, burping, cycling legs, massage.. she's recently started crying the minute I get in the shower, yesterday I fed her before my shower and bought her up in the bouncy chair put her outside bathroom with door open so she could see me..tears as soon as I put shampoo in my hair, I thought I'd give her a few moments to see if it'd stop but she became hysterical so got out of shower dripping with shampoo in hair to pick her up, its so exhausting it really is, OH works long hours 6 days a week so I'm on my own pretty much from morning till bedtime putting her down.

Have you tried exercises (moving her legs up & down) when she is on the floor to release wind?

Why wouldn't you go to a 10 week old baby who's crying?! Hmm

mummyp33 · 13/12/2018 16:29

Always one that has to put their judgemental two pence worth in. I thought the point of these sites was for advice and sharing experiences. I go to my baby whenever she is crying thank you very much.

@woollyheart yes I have, also bringing legs down onto her chest she let's out a lot of wind, she's a very windy baby she often lifts her legs up in the night to let out wind!
