Babies in Pub

There's a Harry Potter quiz in our local tonight. It's a Hungry Horse type pub. DS is 9 months and very amiable in public. I'm see-sawing over whether it's ok to go and bring him. I wouldn't be drinking and we'd have a meal... It's at 7:30 tonight so probably done by 9, he'll likely sleep, but basically can't decide whether this is ok or not... Wise people of MN, opinions please...

I would. But be prepared to leave if he gets upset.

Is he OK with noise?

Try it and see. But if people can't hear the quiz because of him, then you'll need to disappear! But, give it a go!

As long as he isn’t making a fuss I can’t see there being an issue

You’ll have to check their rules for under 18s in the pub, some pubs don’t allow under 18s from as early as 6pm

WorraLiberty · 25/11/2018 14:48

Check with the people running the quiz

I can't imagine a Hungry Horse type banning children after 6pm. They make their £ from families.

Nothisispatrick · 25/11/2018 15:08

I would give it a go. Under 18s rules don’t always apply to ‘babes in arms’.

ReturnofSaturn · 25/11/2018 15:11

It will be fine why wouldn't it? My son is 10 mths and we go out to family friendly pubs in the evening often.

NotCitrus · 25/11/2018 15:56

Check with the pub - if their licence doesn't allow under-18s after whatever time, you'd waste your journey.

nothis my SIL got asked to leave a wetherspoons where she was planning to have a meal when her DS was only a few months old because he’s a minor, I think that was at 8pm not 6pm though

PippilottaLongstocking · 25/11/2018 17:01

Oh I thought you were just saying that they don’t apply, not that they don’t always apply!

BertieBotts · 25/11/2018 17:17

It's usually around 9pm that under 18s have to leave in that kind of place.

TinyBearCub · 25/11/2018 19:46

Those of you who do go out with your babies in the evening; is that something that came with age. My 6mo DD would lose the plot if we took her out after bedtime, just interested to know if it might change.

Sorry to hijack, fwiw I think it sounds fine to go to the pub quiz.

LanguageasaFlower · 27/11/2018 05:47

I didn't go, I hurt my arm lifting my (giant) baby and spent the evening being looked after by dp instead.
@TinyBearCub I think it does depend on the baby, I've always popped him in a sling and brought him everywhere and he sleeps and/or is fairly happy, but we are not a family with much of a routine so it's not breaking it.
