I think my dd is going through her next regression :( not that she's ever slept for more than an hour at a time anyway but it's never been that bad becuse she's ebf and everytime she wakes I just roll over offer a boob and I'm asleep again 5 minutes later.
The last couple nights she's been refusing to eat! I'm so engorged I've had to get up multiple times to manually pump the excess milk because she's not even entertaining the idea of latching!
Whats happened!?😳 I'm exhausted all I've done is pat and shh for hours but im lost because I've never had to do anything more than feed her.

Teething ?
Have you give her any Calpol?

MasterSensei · 24/11/2018 05:42

Calpol and neurofen it doesn't seem to have made a difference.

Could she have a sore mouth? My LO has just had a few days of refusing feeds due to sores in his mouth from Hand, foot and mouth

It definitely could be teething. I've just never had her refuse food for so long she only eats 2 or three times in the day so she gets most of it at night. We managed to get a couple hours in once I took her out of the next to me and put her in my bed!

If she literally hasn't slept and hasn't fed at all for two days I would phone 111 and see if they suggest arranging an OOH appointment for you.

In the meantime can you express and use the opportunity to fill the freezer!? (And more importantly avoid mastitis)

MasterSensei · 24/11/2018 13:03

It's just at night, she's had a good two hours nap this afternoon and while she only eats three times a day she had a really good feed before her naps and bed so I'm not worried about how much she's eating it's more that it's unusual for her not to latch at night, most of the time it's more comfort than anything else but she just isn't having it and it's the only way I can get her to sleep

Teething or illness. Ear infection is definitely a possibility especially if she has had a cold lately. It tends to hurt more at night and feeding lying down can also hurt. Look out for tugging at ear or moving head agitatedly. I got so I knew my DS had a sore ear by the way he moved his head. Try feeding in a more upright position.

If it persists take her to GP for a check. But it will probably pass.

tiredmama1 · 25/11/2018 08:10

Lots of hand foot and mouth going round at the moment. Sores in the mouth can stop them feeding and be painful. You could try a cup, this helped us get some fluid in when she refused the breast due to the pain of sucking x

TheVonTrappFamilySwingers · 25/11/2018 08:36

Ear infection sprang to mind as I read through your post. Mine were like this at night when their ears were hurting. I'd get her checked out.

MasterSensei · 25/11/2018 09:16

So she's definitely sick she woke up screaming from her nap yesterday actual proper screams. Managed to feed her and calm her down but her nose is stuffy, she's pulling on her ears and her cry sounds horse so I think she has a sore throat.

I'm in the process of changing drs every time I take her she shows me up and smiles. My Dr just says the child looks fine in herself it's just a cold you don't feel well if you have a cold.

Well tbh there is nothing you can do for a cold, and most sore ears are viral too. GP can prescribe antibiotics if a sore ear persists but it's better to do without if they're not needed. If a child is not dehydrated or dangerously hot home care is fine for a few days.

melin · 30/11/2018 09:27

How is she op?

MasterSensei · 02/12/2018 09:18

We had an awful week! She came down with something alright. Stuffy nose, bright red cheeks, almost completely lost her voice and I'm assuming a headache because every little thing set her off. Ive spent half the week awake just incase she cried and I couldn't hear her.
Seems to be better this weekend the voice is back and she's looking happier 😊
