Still no sleep, colic and reflux

Hi everyone,
My previous post was regarding our son whom is now 9 weeks and showing no sign of the colic or silent reflux improving.
Managed to push for an earlier appointment, we now have ranitidine, gaviscon and lactulose.
Can anyone tell me how long it takes before there is a difference in baby with ranitidine?
We started it yesterday
Got appointment because of Symptoms of

Excess wind
Screams ( like a wild animal, there is no settling him)
Will drink a 6oz bottle in 5 mins, guzzles this as if he is starved, doesn’t break off
Only happy when feeding
Struggling to poo
Straining and screaming
Arching back and going rigid.
Any symptoms sound familiar? What happens, please help
Thanks

It took at least 3/4 days before I noticed a difference with my DD with Ranitidine.

Although the biggest improvement came from changing her milk and bottles, I switched from TT to MAM and to SMA Anti reflux.

I absolutely feel your pain though, dealing reflux and colic is bloody tough going. Thanks

Agree with the above poster. What bottles are you using (assuming FF?) and what formula?

My DS had mild reflux symptoms, not enough to warrant medication - but GP suggested an Anti-reflux milk and it was a game changer, combined with MAM bottles and a size 3 teat.

Hi
We have those Dr Brown bottles anti colic, and size 2 teats.
They told me 9 week old shouldn’t be having as much as 6oz every 4 hours, and he can finish this in 5 mins without stopping. I was told to try SMA lactose free for the moment as he also displays signs of lactose intolerance.
Just fed him, as soon as he finishes he screams his head off???!!!

I'd take him to see your GP in the morning. He might have CMPI.

My DS drank so much milk FF, but for him it was about the sucking motion which made him feel better. Once he took to a dummy that helped a little. But for mine, once I switched to the aptamil lactose free, he was much better in about 2 days.
Also a wedgehog under the bassinet and pram mattress - the slightly more upright position helped him.

Sorry you’re going through it - it’s really bloody hard. But you do get through it.

Oh meant to say, my DS strained so much when pooing, I hated it as I worried about it so much. One HV said it’s not hurting him, just uncomfortable, so I tried not to think of it as pain when he was doing it (and not to focus on it). His settled down once he was on the lactose free milk which suited him (but that took a few weeks and his were always quite hard to pass). As the wind died down, his writhing died down, then he slept better and smiled.

Lactose intolerance is very rare in little kids - cows milk protein allergy/intolerance is not! I'd be asking to try a dairy free milk eg nutramigen or Neocate. You can get them on prescription. Can't remember how long ranitidine took to kick in but only when we were also given omperazole (after asking for 8 months) did my dd actually start to do some sleeping and less screaming!

We seem to have a mixture of the colic symptoms and reflux. Been on ranitidine now for nearly a week, some improvement but not massive. Straining again to open his bowels. Also, even with the gaviscon and ranitidine, he’s getting that horrible sour milk smell after a feed :(
Don’t know if a week is long enough to try these?
