Ideas for keeping toddler occupied in winter

DS goes to nursery 3 days a week whilst I work, then we have two weekdays together. One we spend with friends who have children of similar ages, and we usually go to a playbarn / toddler gymnastics.
Usually on the second day, we go to swimming lessons, however the enjoyment (for both of us), DH would also like us to go swimming as family at the weekend instead.
So, basically, I'm looking for other ideas on things we can do outside the house, on our day together?
On both our two days, we tend to spend the afternoon at home, so he doesn't feel like he's out the house all day every day, so this is something just for the morning.
I don't mind paying for sessions / groups as i'm currently paying for swimming lessons anyway. But he has no interest in anything that involves group singing, and won't touch messy play. I also can't take him trampolining, as they won't let me in pregnant. So I'm a bit stumped.
Ideas welcomed Smile

Do you have a child friendly museum near you?
Muddy walk to local woods/ park or national trust property, all togged up.
Soft play
Play group

Library
Local playgroups/play sessions

Local Park? Get one of those all in 1 toddler suits and wellies. Just let your toddler decide where to go! Mud walking was one of my DC favourite at that age.

No child friendly museums unfortunately.

Our house back on to a nature reserve so we're regulars for going on mud walks.. usually at the weekend, as I feel guilty doing that and leaving the dog at home, but I can't trust them both at the same time alone.

We've done lots of different groups in the past - I've tried a few more recently but he seems really disinterested. I didn't know if it was because he already goes to nursery or if it's just his 'I'm independent' I don't want to join in age.

We do have a local library that I recently signed him up at, we haven't been to actually try it out yet. So will definitely give that a go, as he loves his books!

Thanks for your suggestions everyone.

Also, do you have a local garden centre nearby that sells aquariums and fish/animals? A few by us do and we sometimes go to look at all the fish which DD loves and then have a cuppa and a cake in the coffee shop.

What about Toddler sense ? It's half gym and half activities.

Or I'm sure the library do classes- usually good value too. Like dancing or toddler/ mini movement.

We've done various music things too. I think sometimes it's just giving them a change, rather than the same one for months. I know toddlers like repetition, but I think some music classes over do it I'm looking at you Hartbeeps

Things I used to do with my DS:
Feed the ducks
Kite flying
Go to the local train station to watch the trains!
Go to the local pet shop. The owner used to let him hold the bunnies and he used to help feed some of the animals.
Local farm park. He loved the tractor and trailer rides.
Soft play
Story time at the local library

I used to take my kids food shopping & lunch.

You would be amazed how much they learn from it!

I think nursery & other organised activity are enough. Every day stuff is often overlooked. Wink

We do Tumble tots one day and the other we usually go to the library.

take a ride on a bus/train
visit a dept store (dry and spacious) - explore the shops, use lifts/escalators, eat together
