Morning all!
I am wanting to make thank you cards but am I being silly thinking that a one year old will like painting? I was just going to do hand and foot prints, am I mad?! FTM! Confused

Expect the novelty to wear off quite quickly, but they will probably enjoy it to begin with. Do you need many? Do a few, and choose one to scan?

You will probably get a few brush strokes, but lots of sucking the paintbrush and trying to paint doors and walls rather then stay at the easel or table where the card is.

They will have fun though and great to get them creative early I think. As PP said. Maybe concentrate on getting one done, then copy. Maybe do hands and feet if all else fails,

I would focus on getting one good print, then scan that to make as many replicas as you need.

Make sure you have someone to help you. Getting a clear hand print when you’re juggling paint brush, paper and toddler is harder than you’d think.

My 1yo loves it btw.

If you do go for a hand print, in my experience, not too much paint, quick, flat hand onto paper, press hand, quick release (you pull it off). In theory that worked for me on Christmas cards for his 1st Christmas after many, many, many attempts lol

Thank you so much for the advise! To be honest I’ll probably only need less than 10. Good to hear that others experience, I thought I might have had a bit of a crazy stupid idea but I’m going to give it a try now with the encouragement from you all! Grin

What paint is best to use? Having a look on the works and can only find big ready mixed bottles? Has anyone any suggestions please

I read once (think was via a messy play company) that you can make “toddler safe” paint with cornflour and food colouring...they will try and eat it so prob best

PinkDaydreams · 24/11/2018 21:33

That sounds like a good idea, thank you!

If you need them to look good rather than just for them to play then do it while they are in the high chair
