Cutting tip off pacifier-what’s next??

So basically I decided to wean my almost 3 year old off pacifier and the only method I thought would work is cutting the hole in his Paci.
I made a long cut in the tip of his dummies and he did notice there was something wrong about it. I tried to tell him that probably he became a big boy now and the dummy is too small to fit in his mouth that’s why probably he feels different.
There is no suction anymore however he is so stubborn he keeps holding it in his mouth and trying to suck on it time to time and wouldn’t leave it. It has been two nights but he doesn’t seem to bothered by it and ready to give it up.
Somehow I thought it would naturally come from him that since dummy is “broken” he won’t want it anymore...
So what shall i do next?? He doesn’t care of giving them out to fairies and cold turkey would be the last option. He has a younger sister which has a dummy too so I wanted it to come from him since he will see her dummies around.

How old is the younger sister? Could they ditch them together?

Maybe it's just not the right time? Try again in 6 months. Restrict it to night times only if it bothers you him doing it in the day.

@wolfiefan she is 1,5 but to be honest I wasn’t ready to handle this step for both of them together at the same time. They are both quite attached to itConfused

Restrict it to bedtimes or nap times only. Reduce the attachment and don’t leave them lying around.

I’m already doing all that but I thought since he is almost 3 it is time to give it up altogether.
Have anyone had any success with this method??
