Playgroup etiquette - advice please

A lovely friend that I have met at playgroups kind of takes over with my child. So if my child slightly waddles and falls she rushes in to cuddle him even if I’m in the process of picking him up etc. I know she is being really kind and loving but at singing time she always grabs my child to sit with her and so I end up looking like a plum on my own but still doing all the actions Hmm She has her own child on her lap too so it’s not like we’re switching children etc. I know it’s such a small thing but I don’t know how to change it and it’s starting to grate a bit. Any advice? Thanks

That’s a bit odd. At singing time could you just pick your child back up and say that you need a cuddle today and just keep doing it until she gets the message.

I would grab him and say something like ‘ooh, thank you,’ in a breezy tone. I agree that’s weird.

Thanks for the replies, I’ll try the picking up and not letting go method. It is weird but it just keeps happening! X

Are you socialising with this Mum outside of playgroup? I think I’d be keeping my distance Smile

You just take your child back, problem solved Grin
