What do you do when you want quiet time? Sometimes, I just want peace and quiet. My kids are 5 and 6. They play outside after school 1-2 hours in the park running around etc. Bath and dinner when they come home. They play in their playroom, but make loads of noise. They listen to audio books, but that does not last long. What do you do when you want some peace and for them to just sit quietly!?! My dd will read 30 mins to an hour before she sleeps. My ds is not there yet and probably won't be for another year or two (he is just starting to read to me). I know there are loads that never let their children watch tv. But what about when the adults want a break or some quiet in the house?? What do your kids do quietly? I am hoping for some good tips :) Quiet actives that don't make a big mess please.

Is there that much time, between school, playing outside, and bed ? By the time you've factored in eating, having a bath, etc. If they are only 5 and 6, I wouldn't have thought there were that many hours that means you 'need a quiet time', or, for when you do, that watching something on TV would be such a bad thing ?

What time do they go to bed? At those ages I'd say that should be off to bed soon after dinner and that should be your quiet time.

I also think 1-2hours in the park after school is quiet a long time. I personally would allow 30mins max.

Do you not want them to watch tv?

It sounds like they're doing lots of stimulating stuff so a bit of tv is fine. Although it's a slippery slope...
