We use a puppy pen to keep our trees safe from our dogs and the neighbours toddler.

You can pick them up cheaply on eBay.

bookworm14 · 16/11/2018 08:32

You can’t, is the answer. The year DD was 1 we just got a mini tree and stood it on a table.

We had an artificial one, with unbreakable decorations and left them to it.

The worst that happened was DS got hold of the chocolate decorations one year...….

We bought a felt xmas tree that you can pin on the wall. It was about £6 from ebay. It's not as pretty as our usual choice but we've no room to make other arrangements as the entire living room is my son's play area now.

Have you seen the toddler trees? Pretty cute for one year. And cheap!

mammmamia · 16/11/2018 09:19

I have twins, we put the tree up and just decorated the upper branches

Tigger001 · 18/11/2018 03:15

@Rednaxela a bold idea, that I am actually going to attempt that after reading it, it does kind of make sense. Our first year with intrigued Toddler

Cheesenacho123 · 18/11/2018 03:37

With my son - At aged one we used his playpen. This year at aged two we bought a smaller tree and it’s going on the sideboard where hopefully he wont be able to pull it down. God knows where all the presents are going to go!

FeckingEjit · 18/11/2018 04:20

I did the same as @GreenTulips

A lot of the time it's only a big deal if you make it a big deal. A few days of 'no, don't touch' and physically moving them away from the tree really isn't that hard

Bananarama12 · 18/11/2018 05:29

You can say no to your children you know 😂

3WildOnes · 18/11/2018 07:14

bananarama Some children aren’t deterred by being told no and moved away. For some that makes them even more determined to do said thing.

SSRainbow · 19/11/2018 18:04

Put the tree in a room you less frequently hang out it
