Anyone tried "One Life" cloth nappies?

We just ordered a big starter pack of these nappies and wraps - just wondered if any mumsnetters had any experience with this brand - good or bad?!

No, but just googled and they look very much like Mother-Ease One-Size (or, MEOS), which are great

Flamesparrow · 20/06/2007 07:55

Are they the lollipop version of motherease?

Most people get on really well with them - not the most exciting of nappy, but a workhorse.

Yes, the woman in the shop said they are just like Mother-ease (which I don't know much about either). I like the sound of a "workhorse" among nappies!!! Just wanted some reassurance really as it seems like a big outlay upfront (as opposed to disposables) and we hadn't heard of this brand so thanks for replies.

Hi - I LOVE my One Life nappies. Definately a workhorse! I don't always use the insert - a bit bulky at the moment as DS still a bit small...so I stick in a homemade liner (old bit of fleece) OOoo they wash really well too....a good buy

MrsWaggsnapps · 20/06/2007 16:19

I've used them too but came to the brand late, I think they are def. on a par with Motherease, they seem to last abit longer wet and they are slightly bigger, oh and they are quick drying too, but I have found the poppers starting to unstick abit (mind you they have seen some heavy use!).

I think they are an excellent everyday nappy.

Are these nappies (and the MEOS) not really big in the crotch for newborns?

You can adjust the rest but the crotch looks wide

MrsWaggsnapps · 21/06/2007 21:24

they are wide (more so than MEOS infact) but both are flexible, esp. if the booster is taken out for newborns. Having said that I'm going to try muslins til roughly 9lbs this time and then try them as my DS was a skinny legged 6lb 8 to start with and they would have swamped him.

I used onelife from 3 months because they were enormous on dd even without the booster. I've since been told you can use the pad on it's own without the nappy in a snug fitting wrap. Wish I'd known that last time. This time I will be doing that and using muslins until lo is big enough for the nappies. (assuming this one is as much of a titch as last one!)

I have just taken delivery of one of these. Now it seems lovely but looks like it would be huge even on a likely to be 10lb newborn...

thehairybabysmum · 25/06/2007 12:56

These are my mainstay nappies too...they are great...quick drying, not bulky on...excellent!

Ceolas · 25/06/2007 12:59

even on a newborn?

thehairybabysmum · 25/06/2007 16:00

I didnt start using them until ds was about 12 weeks old so cant really say. But yes obvioulsy bulkier when they are little as the flap is turned down. Cant remember ever thinking they were bulky though and no worse than the cotton bottom pre folds i had too.

Mind you thats well over a year ago so tis all a bit hazy.

I only use the booster pad at night, never feel i need it in the day, that might help.
