Reusable nappies

Me and DH are trying for our third baby and this time round I'd really like to try reusable nappies as they are better for the environment.
Just wondering if anyone else has used them, are they easy to use? And also do they save you money compared to disposable?
TIA

There's a nappy board on here with quite a bit of info. We fully switched last week with DC1, who is 8 weeks today. We use Little Lamb nappies. They work like a disposable but require a waterproof wrap. We got these after filling in the Nappy Lady questionnaire. There are loads of different types, ranging from folded terry squares to all in ones, which are exactly like a disposable but made from cloth. There are sized nappies and birth-to-potty ones. Also consider the material, as they have different properties. I estimate we will have spent £350-400 by the time DS has weaned. Little Lamb is quite budget friendly, but it can definitely be done cheaper still (especially if you're prepared to wash daily - I'm not!). There is also a good second-hand market for them if you're open to that. Basically, go to the Nappy Lady website, read her information and fill in her questionnaire.

Also, check whether your council runs a discount or hire scheme for cloth nappies - many do!

So to actually answer your questions Smile: ease of use depends on the type of nappy you opt for, which always involves a trade-off (e.g. with cost). Whether it saves you money again depends on the nappy you choose, how often you choose to wash, whether you will use them for more than one child, whether you are prepared to buy second-hand and whether you will sell the nappies on when you no longer need them. Again, the Nappy Lady has good advice on this. I'd definitely recommend washable wipes, even if you stick with disposable nappies. They work so much better than disposables. Check out Cheeky Wipes.
