When did your LO say first word/s?

My DD1 is 14 months - has been babbling 'mamama, dadada, nananana' (these seem to be pointed at the right people :) )lots of googling and making different sounds - but no definitive words as yet?

If I say 'where's teddy' or any one of about 6 different toys (beatbox, Reggie, Bunny, Peppa ) she runs straight to the right toy and picks it up - also cup and banana

Just wondering when your little one started talking (or asking, pointing etc?) Also any tips? She loves being read to and turns the pages - I picture point and tell her what things are 'butterfly'...then later say 'where's the butterfly?' she looks at me and smiles -

Think I'm just looking for a bit of reassurance she's on the right track!? She was up and walking at 10 months, but it'd be lovely to hear her ask for her 'cup' for example

Sounds good to me. First words are very tricky to define, it’s all so gradual.

No words until 21 months here
Only had five words at 24 months to

Not until 18 months. I was beginning to get very worried then one day he said "ball" and quickly followed on with many more words and now he's 22 months old and says lots of words and 2 words phrases.

By 15 months they are expected to say a few (between 2 and 6) recognisable worlds. So she sounds right on track.

13 months for my first(2nd one isn’t there yet). It really to finding something she was interested enough in (visiting her great grandfather and meeting his cat). Her first word was cat and she was obsessed with that cat. Just lots of conversation, pointing out the names for things, will do it. My dh was 2.5 before he said his first word and then just started speaking in full sentences. They get their in their own time, but up to I think 18 months to 2 years is still considered normal.

I don't really remember the first proper word but we were on holiday when she was about 18 months and she started saying "look mummy" and pointing, which was a big moment for us.

She'll be three in Feb and doesn't shut up, ever.

All that babbling and understanding sounds good to me at your little ones age, based on my experience
