4 explosive shits in 5 days

Hi folks

All I seem to do is browse and post on this forum at the moment!

DS is 5 weeks and has been driving me crazy with excessive crying for the past 5 days. I’m trying to eliminate things that could be wrong, before I resign myself to the fact that this is clearly how things are going to be for the foreseeable future.

He’s combination fed; bottle early evening and before bed, breastfed the remainder of the time.

His ‘movements’ have been a little off, to the point where every time he’s pooped, a change of clothing has been required.

Should I be worried? Anyone else experienced the same?

All part and parcel of having a newborn.

No change of clothes required at this stage for me- later on when he saved his pooh up! but if my baby had managed to save his ten poohs up a day to once a day I’m sure a change of clothes would be necessary.

The crying is also normal- for me though after a week of inconsolable crying 11pm to 3 am it got beyterc

Iv had days where iv changed my sons clothes and have had to soak them in vanish stain remover.... 3 times!!!

Ha ha thanks folks! I’ve never done this before and I’m clutching at straws trying to find explanations for everything. It just didn’t seem human, to be honest! 😂

I think we’re looking at a case of colic, which is going to be great fun for the next 6 weeks. . . Sad

My 5 week old is the same. Every time she poos I need to change her clothes, and just went through two nappies in one nappy change just now. I'm thinking she may also have colic as cries from 5pm - 9/10pm every evening.
Not sure if it was coincidence and she just 'timed out' but last night I managed to settle her by sitting in a dark room and playing 'womb sounds' on YouTube

Ah I remember those days! Most memorable was bathing a very reluctant baby DS in the sink in Sainsburys' loo due to a poonami that he even managed to get in his hair! ShockEnvy

This too shall pass, don't worry. Flowers

Colic is just a term used for unexplained crying- again perfectly normal and it may or may not be six weeks.
