Do I need to drop cot level?

Hi,

My daughter is 6.5mo old and is crawling & getting in and out of a sitting position. She is now also pulling herself up to standing.
Her cot is at the highest level-do I need to drop it down now? She's a crap sleeper and I hv to put her down when she's fast asleep but I won't be able to do that with the cot at it's lowest level, so if I don't need to I'drather not, but common sense tells me she could tip herself out

Yes, definitely.

Yes definitely. It’s better for it to be slightly difficult to put her to bed rather than her falling out and causing sever injury.

I kept a sturdy stepping stool next to dd’s cot so I had a bit more height which meant I could pop her in gently.

Thanks, that's what I thought. She hasn't done it when she's in her sleeping bag so that's one thing I suppose. I'll drop the level ASAP though

We’ve just lowered ours due to learning to stand, and had a few bad nights while DS got used to it.
It’s actually easier than you think to put them in fast asleep even at lowest level, you just have to be careful not to accidentally drop/roll Grin
But def do it so that your LO doesn’t pull themselves out the cot on the high level!

I used to sort of support DD's head and hold her sleeping bag to drop her down - you'll work out a way. Better than hearing a thud in the night!

Maybe also look into ways of getting her down awake so she goes to sleep in her cot. She'll protest to begin with but then get used to it. I wish we'd done it earlier with DD - you have to find a way eventually or you'll be rocking her when she's 5!

Yeah , once they sit you need to go down a level.

It is tough on your back though!

I know we'll need to work on getting to sleep without going to bed asleep but at the mo we're just needing her to sleep as she struggles with it and if I can get her to nap and spend the first part of the night in her cot then that's a win for me 🤪

I wouldn't worry op , my son is 12m and doesn't always settle in his cot by himself. They all get there eventually though.

Yes definitely drop it. I understand your reluctance though 😂 fwiw it was actually a lot easier putting her down with the cot dropped than I thought it would be. I wriggle my hand until it's under her neck, other hand under her legs, and that enables you to reach the bottom. That's not to say I haven't accidentally rolled her off my arms a few times...
