Taking newborn and toddler to play center, should u be charged for Newborn?

I have been attending a play center with my little girl for a while now and she really enjoys it but I was really disappointed when I attended on Saturday with my little girl and New born. Being asked to pay for a newborn is ridiculous. What can she do but stay in my arms? She is 6 weeks old. They offered free mash or drink for her but really she is 6 weeks old. They said that this is in line with other children's play areas but to my knowledge I have not seen this in my area and I regularly attend them. Under 6 months should not be charged for staying in their mums or dads arms.

No
DH owns a play centre and under 2's are free.

oops sorry stand corrected
Under 2's are only charged if they are going to play on the equipment- so your 6 week old would have got in free Grin

i agree if an infant was able to walk and play then i should pay for the services but newborns should not.

That's ridiculous to charge you.

namethatchild · 04/11/2018 22:57

I really don’t see how they can justify that! I have been to so many soft plays, play cafes and classes with my toddler and 5 month old. I’ve never had to pay for the baby anywhere. Free mash?! Hmm

SpottingTheZebras · 04/11/2018 22:57

Do they clearly state their charges? As much as I think it is ridiculous to charge a newborn, if they make it clear that everyone has to pay then it is fair enough and you can just make a decision to go elsewhere.

PrettyLovely · 04/11/2018 23:00

I have never paid for a newborn thats ridiculous

Lauraandbump2 · 04/11/2018 23:03

No that is bonkers

Marmite27 · 04/11/2018 23:07

Ours a babe in arms would be free until crawling with a sibling.

If going in on their own (they do story time, messy play etc that we often attend) then it’s £1. I’ve got no problem with this, it’s a hidden gem, family run and I want them to stay in business!

PodgeBod · 04/11/2018 23:11

My local one has a small fee over 6 months, £1.40 I think, or free under a year when with a paying sibling.

MelRose28 · 04/11/2018 23:21

Yes the had it displayed as you enter play area. I was on my own with a newborn and toddler and trust me there was no way i was going to drag my toddler out of there. it would of been war. but I wont be back. I think the place was nice but disagree with Newborn policy so wont be back

I think ours is free for under 1's when with a paying sibling.
But £1 if they are on their own.

Bluebelltulip · 05/11/2018 10:49

Local ones to me are free under 6 months then reduced fee until 1 yr.

SoyDora · 05/11/2018 10:51

All the ones I’ve been to are free for under 1’s

Racecardriver · 05/11/2018 10:52

Mine doesn’t charge. Only children who are playing pay.

Steelesauce · 05/11/2018 10:59

I refused to go anywhere which charges for newborns, especially as I was paying out for their siblings!
