Two year old doesn't walk properly. Normal?

My DD has just turned two. She's never walked properly in that she doesn't put her left foot down properly when she walks. Is this normal at this age? Should I take her up the GP? I thought it was that she was learning to walk but it's gone on long enough? Or has it ?

I would get her referred to a physio. My DD’s physio says she can spot problems in young children just from observing their walking gait. DD has cerebral palsy in her right side which affects her walking and use of her arm/hand. I’ve known a few children with the same condition who were diagnosed by health visitors/ gps etc observing them walk and using their hands. It will probably be fine but worth getting it checked out.

Yes very important to get her assessed, i work in biomechanics and I'd want an opinion on her walking to prevent future problems.

I would say not normal and worth mentioning to the Dr or health visitor.

Please get this checked out and don’t be fobbed off. My DD walked with one foot on tiptoes and when we finally got an x-ray we discovered that she had hip dysplasia - her hip was completed dislocated from birth. She’s had surgery and all is well now, but we needed to really push for the initial x-ray. Hopefully it’s not this for you, but I read your post and there were a few parallels. Good luck

I'm worried GP will just say they walk like that at this age but hope they listen to me.
