Ideas for adventures with a toddler

DS is two and a half, and we don’t have family nearby. He’s in nursery three days a week while I’m at work, but I struggle sometimes to fill the days productively when he’s at home. He’s not good at playing on his own, and he’s not really into toys - he mainly loves to be out and about. Does anyone have any ideas for where they take their toddler that isn’t soft play or similar?

Visit the local airfield, sit in the cafe and watch the planes take off
Ikea makes a great day out at a quiet time
Train stations are always fun as are model railway exhibitions
Shopping centres are popular with my toddler, no need to buy anything we usually just have coffee and cake
Fire station open days
Local kids theatre, there’s some great toddler shows where we are
Try out every playground and park within travelling distance
Mine loves a car boot sale or a bric a brac market. We usually end up buying a cheap toy
We walk down our local high street at toddler pace spotting buses, going into charity shops and looking at the toys and having a drink in the cafe

What brilliant ideas! I wouldn’t have thought if most of these. Blatant place marking

We also spend a lot of time in the train station watching trains go
In the bus station watching buses go
In john Lewis as they have three floors and lots of escalators
At the local steam railway with a platform ticket
On a bus
In the park
Jumping in puddles

@blueskiesandforests

We live in London and a trip up the line to the big train station has kept us amused many many times!
