My 5 week old baby has been diagnosed with broncilitis. Her cough is horrendous - anyone got any idea how to help her?

Also - does anyone have any experience with broncilitis in babies andif so do you have any advice?

Do you mean bronchiolitis? If it's that, you have to keep an eagle eye on your baby, as soon as they start to get less interested in feeding, and are very sleepy, straight back to the doctor. With a baby that little, you should get an emergency appointment. My DS had it at 6 weeks and spent 5 nights in hospital, so it is not something you should be trying to manage at home. I am not trying to scare you, OP, but you need to really be vigilant. DS did bounce back, no long-term effects whatsoever, but it was scary.

Yep, it was just too difficult to spell the full word haha! We’ve just come home from hospital, been in 3 nights. She hasn’t needed oxygen for 24 hours so we seem
To be heading in the right direction. She feeds still just small and often rather than large every 4 hours. She’s breathing heavy but her nose is so so stuffy she has no other option. Her cough breaks my heart, it’s so difficult for her and you can see she’s exhausted.

If she has been discharged from hospital, then that's positive. Steam might help ease her breathing about, so close the bathroom door while you run a hot bath - she doesn't need to get in, but just being in a warm humid place could soothe the cough a bit. I think it's mostly going to take time.

How is she now Toniex?

She’s home, not herself, feeding very little every couple of hours. She just drank more than what she’s been handling there and projectile vomited it up. They are nothing but worry!

Have you got any follow up appointments?

My daughter had it at 10 days old and again at 6 months. I was told to go to a&e if she was drinking less than 50% of her usual feeds, had shallow breathing or difficulty breathing. I'd take your baby to urgent care if I was you, she's still very young x
