Grunting his back

My baby is nearly 6 weeks old and I’ve started he grunts when placed on his back. Not always but most of the time. He’s fine when sleeping on his front. It’s quite distressing and last night I woke up to it, rubbed his tummy and he fell asleep.

I really don’t want to give gripe water or infacol because of the risk of introducing bacteria or am I being overcautious? I have bought the Woodward’s Gripe water but can’t bring myself to give it to him because I feel like I am giving him unnecessary medicine.

I was hoping he’d grow out of it. Shall I contact the health visitor or doctor first? Is it wind? When do they grow out of it?

Woodward gripe has a screw top doesn't it? Use a medicine spoon or syringe that you can sterilize with Milton or whatever to reduce the likelihood of bacteria if you're really worried. We've used infacol since dd was 2 weeks and never had an issue with growth in the liquid.

Personally I'd try the gripewater or infacol before making a Dr appointment. Or see the pharmacist.

We used infacol from a very early age here too without any problems.
