19 month old no longer wants his milk

Pretty much as the title says. My 19 month old is now refusing his milk. He would have a bottle in the morning and at night but just won’t take it now, bats it away. We’ve tried putting it in a beaker as he has his water in the beaker throughout the day just fine. Tried even making him tea of an evening and he still is just uninterested. I’m making sure he’s having yoghurts and cheese throughout the day to substitute but is this age fine to be dropping his milk? Probably overanxious mom moment I know.

It’s totally fine. Offer him a beaker of milk during the day perhaps? We stopped my son having milk at bedtime at that age anyway for his teeth.

It's fine, they need about 12oz, but that can be milk on cereal, cheese, yoghurt, custard etc as well as a drink.

I don't think it's fine without knowing the issue for him and the health side of it. Should you ask a health care professional?

I stopped breastfeeding at 19m but dd would not accept any other milk as a drink. Totally refused. I just incorporated cows milk into her food. She's now 3 and absolutely fine. She still won't drink milk.

It’s totallyvfine for them not to have milk at this age but just make sure they get enough fat and calcium. Oily fish is an excellent source of good fats. Boys can have oily fish upto 3 times a week. If you make things like salmon fish cakes with tinned fish including the bones, he’ll get the good fats and the calcium. Sardines on toast is another excellent source of both.

There’s a list of sources of calcium here. Non-dairy one’s to try are smooth almond butter on toast and dried figs as a snack.

My dd stopped having milk at a 14 months. She abandoned bf just before one then her bedtime bottle around 13-14 months, she still just won't drink it at 3. I spoke to the hv at the time and they said it was fine as long as she has lots of other dairy/calcium sources.

My 6 month old started doing this 3 weeks ago.... I just make sure he has lots of cheese and yogurts, I mix his formula in with his purees and offer fluids throughout the day x

Make sure he is having his multi vitamins and is getting 350mg of calcium a day.
