How many wet nappies does your 5 month old produce in a 24 hr period?

Baby is gaining weight just fine (in fact, he’d risen above his usual 75th percentile at his last weighing), and seems happy and content in himself, but ever since he was about 10 weeks he doesn’t seem to be saturating nappies as much or as frequently as he did prior to 10 weeks (he’s currently 23 weeks). Brought this up to a few different health professionals but nobody seems to be concerned because of his weight gain and the fact that he’s absolutely fine in himself.

He used to produce a good 5/6 decently wet nappies a day, but now it’s around 4 - and even those aren’t as heavy as they used to be (only the morning one).

He doesn’t feed as often as he used to (exclusively breastfed, fed on demand), but that’s because he doesn’t get hungry as often as he used to. If I wanted him to feed more regularly, I’d be force-feeding him.

How many decently wet nappies are your little ones of a similar age getting through a day?

Any thoughts?

I think it depends obviously on how often you change them and the absorbency of your nappies. We use mostly cloth, but at 5 months I would have gone through 5 in 24 hours, 4 during the day and one at night. But if he was in only disposables, I could get away with 3, as they will last 6 ish hours, so 2 per day and one overnight. If he’s gaining weight though that all sounds fine.

Is it possible that he is feeding less because it's not so hot as it was this summer? Less in less out.

He's feeding less because he/you two are getting better at feeding. Latching on quicker n suckling stronger as he/you now know what to do. :) so he's getting more milk in less time.
DD is 5 months ebf on demand and I can honestly say I haven't got a clue how many wet nappies in 24hrs. Can't say how often or for how long she feeds either. What I can say is: she's a happy baby with a healthy weight. If she was hungry, she'd be crying. If there was anything wrong, she'd tell me (by crying, obviously)

It's also possibly because his stomach and bladder have grown so he's be to hold more. Hence less frequent feeds and nappies.
