Weaning ...confused

Baby is four months but tall (99th percentile) and good weight (75th) but he's actively watching food now and trying to reach for food eaten by others. Do I started weaning him - purees mostly and homemade.
I've started him off on 1 meal as such a day and he loves it, wolf's it down happily and then wants to bf after.
When do you start introducing other meals? Do you start doing main and pudding first and then add a meal or space a second meal first?
How much puree should he have for a meal? He's having around 1-3 Oz at the momment depending on the puree and finishes that happily.

Weaning is very much baby led so if the food isn't making him sick then carry on at the rate you're doing it cause it sounds like it's working!

What catmum94 said.
75th percentile doesn't necessarily mean he's a 'good weight' though as it means he's above average. Sounds like you're doing a good job so far but don't fall into the trap of thinking really chunky babies/kids mean they're flourishing. Not saying yours is but it's a common error to believe really high percentile for weight is a really good thing. It's not bad but I would be cautious of overfeeding when weening.

I'll stick to offering small meals and lots of breast too

I'd offer more small meals first, before I move on to pudding. Also, if make sure that the food contained milk, eggs, gluten, nuts etc (one at a time obviously), as early introduction of common allergens can reduce the likelihood of them having an allergy (see leap and eat studies).

I would stick to one meal for a couple of weeks, make sure he’s not getting constipated. Then make the meal more complex, ie add protein and carbs rather just fruit or veg. Encourage lo to hold a spoon and a baby wipe at the end.

Don’t rush adding each meal until there giving finger food a good try otherwise you risk spending all your time pureing or spending all your money on jars/pouches!

Hope this helps.

Ok. He will suck on a carrot/cucumber stick but not really eat anything and grab the spoon slightly but tends to want to shove his hands into mush then mouth.
So far no constipation. Should I be giving him water with solids as well as breast milk to avoid that potentially happening? Sorry for all the questions I've read a few articles but they are confusing.
