Switching from breast to formula, 9 months old

I'd like to stop breastfeeding my 9 month old but not sure how to go about it. He takes a bottle as he has had one before bed for a few months now. At his age do I replace one feed a week with formula or should I be trying to get him to drop daytime feeds?

His usual schedule is:

Bf on waking, usually around 6.30
Breakfast 7.15-ish
Bf after morning nap, around 10-ish (think this one is mostly for comfort as it's pretty short and he wakes up a bit grumpy)
Lunch 12
Bf after afternoon nap, around 3-ish, and sometimes a snack
Dinner 5pm
Bottle at bedtime, around 4 or 5 oz
Approx 1 million feeds overnight (ok, more like 2-4 night feeds, mostly for comfort I think)

Last weekend I needed to be away from him in the afternoons so my husband gave him a bottle after his nap. He took 4 or 5 oz, ate his dinner a couple of hours later, but then only had 2 or 3 oz of his bedtime bottle. How much formula would he need at this age?

We're baby led weaning, he is swallowing some but a lot of food is still not really going in. He wakes up multiple times a night - I'm aware switching to formula won't fix this but I'm keen to try and fill him up as much as possible in the day so I can be fairly confident he's not waking from hunger! Only taking 2oz before bedtime worries me.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

My DD is 10 months and EFF. I haven't got any advice of switching from BF to FF, but thought my DD's schedule might help you work out how much formula he might need.

7am - 6oz
9am - breakfast
9.30am - nap
10.40am - snack
12pm - lunch
2pm - nap
2.40pm - 6oz
4.30pm - tea
6pm - 8oz

She rarely needs a bottle through the night. Xx

Sorry, she has 8oz at 7pm, not 6pm. Xx

I switched at around same time.
Just replace a BF with a FF every few days. I left the first and last feeds of day until right at the end.
The switch went really smoothly for us, mainly because my DS is super greedy and didn’t care where his milk came from as long as he had plenty of it!!
My DH settled him at night for first few nights without BF. He originally kept one night feed (3am) but has 95% feed free nights now!
He is on 3 or 4 7oz bottles a day depending on wake time and how much he eats.
I think anywhere between 6-8oz at a time is about right for 9-11 months??
(It will take you a little while to work up to that volume as most BF babies take smaller amounts so just got with whether they finish bottle etc to decide on if to up the amount)

I introduced formula at 9 months as breastfeeding was becoming uncomfortable, had no problems at all.

I switched any daytime feeds first, then morning feed, then the before bed one. After that, I moved the bedtime feed to before brushing his teeth etc.

I also swapped from a bottle to a 360 cup around then, not sure if that helped with breaking the feed to sleep aassociation (just did it as better for teeth), but it was much easier than I’d expected.

Mine did go through a brief period of sleeping through the night around then, but has been back to one wake up since probably 13 months, now 16 months.

Thanks all, that's all really helpful advice!

He had 6oz at bedtime tonight - then promptly threw up his dinner everywhere.

@Bananacentral the nights are the bit I'm most worried about! Did your little one do ok being settled by his dad?
