Baby constantly hungry!

My baby is formula fed (tongue tie, low milk supply due to sepsis etc), is 5 weeks old and weighs 11lb 6.

He was having 5oz for a few weeks but now that’s not enough. He’s so random that I always seem to be making less. Like at 1pm today, he had 5oz. Became unsettled and hungry again at 2pm and had another 5oz. But then at 5pm, was happy with 4oz.

I upped it at 11pm for his bedtime and gave him 6oz and he had it all, every single drop, was abit unsettled (probably wanted more) but eventually fell asleep.

He never throws any of it back up and does a lot of poos so it’s obviously getting digested.

I am really worried I am over feeding him but I’m sure he would let me know if I was? He’s chunky though.

Also I don’t know how much oz of formula to make him without wasting it!

After having 6oz at 11pm, he’s just woken up at 2am, had another 3oz. He fell asleep. I changed his nappy as he does a poo whilst feeding, he woke up and started routing and finished off the other 2oz!

He screams bloody murder if I try to burp him whilst feeding. Like how dare I take his bottle away!!

There's a growth spurt at 6 weeks OP, so this is pretty normal. I was pinned to the sofa by DS1 for 24 hours solid at this age, he just wouldn't stop feeding. I have no specific FF advice but just reassurance that he's upping his supply of food!

He’s not 5 weeks fully, he’s more 4 weeks 6 days! So I don’t know if it’s stoll a growth spurt?

6 weeks is a rough guideline. This does sound like a growth spurt.

Don't look at the individual feeds, but the entire feed over a day. They feed often which is normal

I agree with the worldistoosmall, look at it over a 24hr period and try and find an average. You could try offering 6oz every 3 hours see what he does for a few days, you do risk wasting formula but you’ll hopefully get into a bit more of a rountine. If he gets unsettled between that time try getting out a play mat and distract or putting him in your arms and talking to him.
