How was your LO after their first set of injections? We have ours this week and I am dreading it :(

I've heard of babies who weren't right for a week to babies who were fine. I have Calpol at the ready but what was your experience?

Temperature for about 12-16 hours afterwards, easily controlled by Calpol. Otherwise fine.

Mine was fine bit warm but he had a dose of calpol and that sorted it.

He still has the lump from one of them under his leg a few weeks later but it doesn't seem to be bothering him.

I dont want to scare you but it was shit. Give Calpol 20 mins before that jabs & that will help a lot.

Ours were fine. A bit of a temperature for the rest of the day which I think the Calpol sorted. She did do a small vomit in the evening which is unusual for her, but I think it’s because she decided to comfort feed for the rest of the day!

The guidance has changed about giving calpol beforehand. This was recommended up until about 10 years ago then on my childhood immunisations training the advice was not to give before as it can interfere with the immune response. It's fine to give after if they are uncomfortable with fever though. All 3 of mine were fine after them. It's far worse for us as parents! It's no fun as the nurse giving them either Sad Lots of cuddles and extra breastfeeds if breastfeeding should do the trick. They do tend to sleep more after them though.

My DS had his this morning. He's been comfort feeding and sleeping since we got home with lots of cuddles on the sofa. He's had a few meltdowns when he wakes but breastfeeding has quickly calmed him down and he's dropped back to sleep each time. We've done Calpol too.

It was horrible to see him so upset at the doctors (I think I cried more than him) but I just had to tell myself it would be more upsetting if he got one of the illnesses they are vaccinating him against.
