Toddler/child talking to themselves...

I recently observed my LG playing with her shape sorter independently. She was testing each space with the same shape and talking to herself saying “That one? No!” over and over again until she found the one which fit. She was then talking to herself whilst playing with some of her Happyland toys.

My question is... at what age did you first notice your child beginning to talk to themselves? I just thought it was quite funny but since doing a bit of digging (as we do) I’m thinking it’s quite a big step in her development? What are your thoughts and experiences?

DD started doing this about 2 months ago - she is 2.3. I love listening to it as like a little insight into their world

I loved watching her and managed to get it on film to share with our family. My little one is just 20 months today so I’m really pleased!

You got it on film?! Wow!
Literally every time my toddler does anything cute like that he stops immediately when I try to film, drives me crazy!

I try to do it when he's not looking but he knows, it's like a sodding superpower Angry

A couple of months ago (two in August) I heard her saying "mummy, this one..." I thought she was calling me but she was playing with her mummy and baby farm animals. It's so lovely to listen to Smile

It gets even better as their imagination grows! The other day DD1(3.5) managed to latch her dragon onto the doll house window to spy on and scare the toys inside the house!

They’re just amazing aren’t they. Their little minds grow at such a speed, one of the best bits of being a mummy. Makes up for sleepless nights Smile

DS started about 20 months - it's my favourite thing ... "in there? No.. in there? Yeah!"💕
