How can I be prepared?

I have been researching into the various cloth nappy choices and want to be prepared when the baby arrrives. I was thinking of getting about 18 nappies - a couple of different makes but have been advised not to wash them all in case I want to send them back. This makes sense to me but at the same time I want to have nappies ready for when the baby is born. How can I strike a balance of having my nappies washed and ready and risking not returning them if they don't suit?

you could pre wash one of each type then try those ones out to see if they work. If you are happy doing the pre wash on the others wont take too long, you need to put them through three washes but you don't need to dry them inbetween

i just washed all mine anyway but you could use disposables and washables for the first few days and test run the different types and the ditch the disps once you´re happy.

TBH i bought several diff kinds and while i have clear faves they all do the job, they would have had to be pretty awful for me to have bothered exchanging them. what kinds have you ordered?

I haven't ordered any as yet but was thinking about a mix of cotton tots and bamboozles. I have a wee bit of time yet to decide but I am suffering from nesting panic!!

I've just started using cotton tots bots and think they're fine (although I'm using the size 2s on my 10 week old. They're a bit big and bulky, but because they've got the nippa fastenings, can be made to fit him). I liked the bamboozles (as they're really soft), but was put off by the fact that they not as tumble-driable as the cotton ones (when the weathers as bad as it is today, it's great to have the option of tumble-drying).

I live in Scotland so I will definitely need the tumble dryer!!!

Stefka, if you are looking at bamboozles, have a look at bambineos (wambamboos) before you buy, they are cheaper and better quality
